Department 2
Head of department:
Hanna Levchuk, higher qualifying category, has been leading the department since 1984, length of speciality service - 29 years.
Basic guidelines:
- providing rooming-in in the comfortable conditions
- teaching, consultation, psychological support of women recently confined
- informing mothers about hygiene during post-natal period, rational nutrition, advantages of breastfeeding, new-borns care , family planning, sexually transmitted disease
- prophylaxis of suppurative-septic diseases in women recently confined
Methods:
- individual rooms for mother with a child
- round-the-clock rooming-in
- exceptionally breastfeeding
- visit of woman recently confined by her family
- use of home clothes for mother and child
- application of mother and newborn care technologies, based on EBM principles
- informing women recently confined about proceeding of late postpartum period and providing continuous lactation (using videofilms, brochures, posters, etc. )
- availability of telephone communication with the staff of maternity hospital and members of breastfeeding support group with the purpose of obtaining consultations after discharge from the hospital
Prospects:
- training medical personnel and introduction of effective perinatal technologies
- improvement of the post-natal consultations in such questions as newborns care and exceptionally breastfeeding untill 6 months
