Head of department:

Tetiana Polishchuk, higher qualifying category, has been leading the department since 1990, length of speciality service- 22 years

Basic guidelines:

• providing care for newborns
• supplying rooming-in in the individual rooms

Methods:

• introduction of 12 principles of the successful breastfeeding and UNICEF program "Baby Friendly Hospital"
• clean and dry method of umbilicus care
• exclusion of tight swaddling
• free visiting mother and child

Advantages of the inculcated methods:

• забезпечення достатньої лактації у породіллі
• providing sufficient lactation for woman recetly confined
• possibility of preventing the pathological loss of newborn's weight
• contribution to formation of baby's immune system
• reduction of infection cases
• family participation in baby's care
