Olena Kurak, higher qualifying category, has been leading the unit since 1997, length of speciality service - 14 years, has passed WHO trainings "Modern Perinatal Technologies", ", "Baby Friendly Hospital"
Equipment:
- incubators
- beds with heating
- radiant warmth lamps
- lamps for phototherapy
- analyzers of hyperbilirubinemia are photometric
- breathing bags "Ambu" for ALV
- digital scales
Basic guidelines:
- providing specialized care for newborns with perinatal pathology
Methods:
- constant rooming-in in the individual room
- organization of exceptionally breastfeeding
- possibility of father and other family members participation in the baby care
- providing "thermal chain" saving
- introduction of "kangaroo" method into the low weight babies care
- clean and dry method of umbilicus care
- absence of swaddling; the use of home clothes for newborns (shirts, romper suits, socks, gloves)
- teaching mothers exceptionally to breastfeeding in the Lactation Centre
- limited use of invasive methods during newborns investigation and treatment

- increase in breastfeeding babies number
- decrease of suppurative-septic diseases
- immunobiological defence
- hypothermia prophylaxis
- hypoglycemia prophylaxis
- prevention of unnecessary medicines use
