Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Volodymyr Pashchuk, second qualifying category, has been leading unit since 2001, length of speciality service - 10 years; as a trainer participates in the trainings concerning implementation of modern perinatal technologies in the Ukrainian treatment establishments , that are conducted by "Mother & Infant Health Project".

Basic guidelines:
- providing intensive care and intensive treatment for newborns
Methods:
- providing primary intensive care for newborns according to protocol
- carrying out antishock therapy
- correction of vital organs and systems dysfunctions: а) ALV in the case of breathing disorders and RDS
- raising children, who had asphyxia (use of ketamine microdoses after having brain swelling)
- mother's care after baby, breastfeeding, etc.
б) application of artificial surfactants "Alveofact" and "Sucrim" after having RDS in preterm newborns
в) full and partial parenteral feeding
г) normalization of hemodynamics (use of dopamine and dobutamine) in newborns
Prospects:
- providing care for children with weight < 1000g on base of CPAP and ALV using artificial surfactants
- complete supplying the unit with diagnostic apparatus (electrolytic- gas analyzer ABL -700, portable X-ray apparatus, neurosonograph)
